You’d think that a man, by age 50, knows what he likes and yet…

My whole life I have lived in urban and suburban places. If you’d have asked me at age 50 whether I’d ever be living in the country, I’d probably have said that you’re nuts … and yet, here I am, living in the country, in the middle of nowhere, Bedias, Texas… and I’m truly loving it.

Stepping out of the house late in the evening, with no trains, planes and automobiles nearby, Jupiter, Venus and Scorpio scattered across the dark sky overhead, and a gentle breeze rustling in the trees, what place could be more fulfilling than this?

I’m so grateful to have discovered this place, and this side of myself. Life is meant to be a place of continuous discovery and wonder. The picture below of my grandnephew at our little pond captures this spirit so well.
