BFG once again had the privilege of spending an evening at the beautiful new Hope Lodge in Baltimore. Hope Lodge provides a home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers while they receive treatment.

While we've volunteered several times at the previous location, the new facility truly exceeded our expectations. The welcoming atmosphere was vibrant, and we enjoyed sharing a meal and meaningful conversations with the guests. It was a wonderful reminder of the importance of community and the impact of simply being present for others.

This Independence Day, as we celebrate our nation's freedom, it's also a great moment to reflect on a different kind of freedom: financial independence.

It’s not just about retiring early or having a certain number in the bank. It's about having the freedom to:

Work because you want to, not because you have to
Support your kids without sacrificing your own goals
Travel, give back, or simply sleep better at night knowing you're secure
Live life on your terms—with confidence, clarity, and purpose

At BFG, we believe that true financial planning isn’t about products or predictions. It’s about helping you live your life by design, not default.

What does financial independence look like to you? Drop a comment and tell us your vision!

Getting married later in life looks different than it did in your 20s.

You're not starting from scratch—you've got a career, maybe a home, retirement savings, kids, and a financial identity you've spent decades building. So when you remarry (or marry for the first time later in life), the question isn't just "do we love each other?" It's "how do we build a life together without unraveling the financial futures we've each worked so hard to create?"

Claudia Glover created a free guide for exactly this moment: Marrying Later in Life: The Financial Guide They Forgot to Write.

Inside, she covers the conversations most couples avoid until it's too late:

→ Do you really have to combine all your finances?
→ How do you update beneficiaries the right way?
→ What's actually fair when there are kids, prior marriages, or unequal assets?
→ When does a prenup make sense, and when doesn't it?
→ What happens when you both already own property?

Whether this is your first marriage or your third, this guide is for you. Download it for free at bfglibrary.com.

Dear Clients and Friends,

As I reach my first six months as CEO of BFG Financial Advisors, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on this important milestone and, most importantly, thank you for the trust you place in our team.

This year marked the first leadership transition in our firm's 22-year history. While leadership titles may have changed, our commitment to serving our clients remains exactly the same. The values that have guided BFG from the beginning—putting clients first, delivering thoughtful advice, and building lasting relationships—continue to be at the center of every decision we make.

Over the past six months, we have continued to grow and invest in the future of the firm. We expanded our presence with the opening of our North Carolina office, welcomed talented new team members, strengthened our internal capabilities, and had the privilege of helping many new families and individuals pursue their financial goals. At the same time, we have remained focused on enhancing the client experience and ensuring that every client receives the personalized guidance they deserve.

As many of you know, 2026 has also brought its share of market uncertainty and economic headlines. During periods like these, we are reminded that successful financial planning is not about reacting to short-term events but remaining focused on long-term goals. While no one can predict what the markets will do next, our team remains committed to helping clients make informed decisions, identify opportunities, manage risk appropriately, and stay aligned with the financial plans designed to support their families and futures. It is during challenging times that the value of trusted advice becomes most evident, and we are grateful for the opportunity to guide you through both opportunities and uncertainties.

What I am most proud of, however, is our people. Our team has embraced change with enthusiasm, maintained our collaborative culture, and remained steadfast in our commitment to delivering exceptional service. Their dedication allows us to continue providing the level of care and attention our clients have come to expect.

Beyond the work we do every day, we remain committed to supporting the communities that have supported us. Through charitable initiatives, financial education programs, scholarship opportunities, volunteer efforts, and partnerships with organizations making a difference, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond financial planning. Service has always been an important part of who we are, and we look forward to expanding those efforts in the years ahead.

On a personal note, one of the most meaningful experiences of this year was participating in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Ball. The event brought together hundreds of supporters to raise awareness and funding for a cause that has touched so many families, including my own. The generosity of our clients, friends, colleagues, and community helped make the event a tremendous success, and I am deeply grateful for the support. Experiences like these serve as a reminder that strong communities are built when people come together in support of one another.

As we look ahead, I am excited about what the future holds. We continue to invest in our team, our technology, our communities, and most importantly, our relationships with you. While much has been accomplished in these first six months, we believe the opportunities ahead are even greater.

Thank you for your continued confidence in BFG Financial Advisors. It is a privilege to serve as your trusted advisor, and I look forward to what we will accomplish together in the years ahead.

With gratitude,
Lena M. Nebel, CFP®, MSFS
Chief Executive Officer
