We’re excited to share another feature from our Founder and CEO, LaMichelle Hecht, CPA!

LaMichelle’s latest article, “AI Can Be Confidently Wrong. Accountants Cannot.”, is now available through the Virginia Society of CPAs' VSCPA Disclosures.

In the article, she explores both the opportunities and the risks that come with using artificial intelligence in accounting. AI can help professionals research, draft, organize information, and work more efficiently — but it cannot replace professional judgment, verification, or accountability.

As LaMichelle explains, the goal is not to avoid AI. It’s to use it well while maintaining the standards our profession demands.

We’re proud to see her continuing to share her expertise and contribute to conversations about where the accounting profession is headed.

“Your AI Accountant: What You Can—and Absolutely Shouldn’t—Ask AI to Do.”

AI can help creators and business owners work faster, understand their numbers, and ask better questions, but a confident AI answer isn’t always a correct one.

LaMichelle’s session will explore where AI can be a valuable financial tool, where it creates risk, and what entrepreneurs should always verify before using AI-generated information to make a business decision.

Most nonprofits don’t lose funding because they aren’t changing lives.

They lose funding because they can’t consistently demonstrate financial stewardship.
That was one of the biggest conversations during my session at Building Bridges: Hope, Healing, and Prevention Community Day.
I had the privilege of speaking with nonprofit leaders who care deeply about their communities, and many are navigating increasing expectations around grants, compliance, reporting, and accountability.

The mission is rarely the problem. The systems behind the mission often are.
When organizations strengthen their financial processes, they don’t just prepare for audits.
They build credibility with funders, confidence with their boards, and stability for the people they serve.

Thank you to Lynette Savage, Volunteers of America, and everyone who joined the conversation.
These are the discussions that help nonprofits protect the work that matters most.

What’s one financial challenge you think nonprofit leaders are talking about most right now?
