If a freight broker is considering changing up the benefits mix for their team, they may want to implement an employer plan. Here are some things to look out for…

· ⚖ Type of plan… which is the best plan, so you are not adding more work to your already hectic life, while still offering value and benefits to your team?
· SIMPLE IRA or 401k could work, and the design will be key
· Consider a 3(16) service, this takes a lot of the busy work off your plate

· 📄 Plan design… are you going to match, when are you going to match, how long do employees need to be part of your team before they can join?

· 🤝 Other integrations… how will this feature integrate with services you already have (e.g., payroll)?

Offering an employer plan can be a huge win for the business and the team, but make sure you do the up-front work so that it does not turn into a headache down the road.

The Transportation Intermediaries Association conference in full swing in Orlando... I was not able to join this year but enjoyed stopping by the venue to grab breakfast with 3PL Systems, Inc . Check out their booth if you can.

Simply through observation and conversation I can see that the industry is as vibrant as ever, and that nuanced problems and commensurate problem solving is on display at events like this.

The world can be thankful that it will get what it needs, due in no small part to the folks meeting at this conference. Keep up the good work.

Summer fun for families... looking for local theaters that offer discounted movie tickets for kids. My wife took our two older boys to Minions last night and they loved it. ~$5/ticket and it included popcorn.

Revisit your Roth conversion strategy now. With markets generally being down, it may be a good time to take action at a relative "discount." Business owners... do you have a Roth 401k provision in your plan? If not, now is a good time to consider adding it.

There are some nuances to this strategy and potential pitfalls, so be sure to check with your trusted tax and financial advisors before implementing.
