Under Act 2026-604, Alabama is suspending the state sales tax on qualifying food items from May 1 through June 30, 2026.

✔️ Applies to food items defined the same as SNAP-eligible groceries
❗ City & county sales taxes still apply

So yes… you’ll save—but don’t expect a completely tax-free receipt 😉
