💸 SIDE HUSTLE TAX TALK (CURRENT IRS RULES) 🚨
If you’re making money on the side Uber/Lyft 🚗, lashes/hair 💇🏽♀️, freelancing 💻, selling online 🛍️, cleaning, catering, content creating 📱 YES… it’s taxable income. The IRS is clear on that.
✅ THE $400 RULE (THIS IS THE ONE PEOPLE MISS):
If you have $400 or more in NET self-employment earnings (profit after expenses), you generally have to file and you’ll owe self-employment tax.
🚫 No 1099? Still counts.
Cash, Cash App, Zelle, Venmo, tips, barter still income even if you don’t get a form.
💡 Expenses can save you money:
Mileage ⛽ supplies 📦 phone/internet used for business 📲 ads 📣 equipment 💻
Real deductions lower what you owe but only if you track it.
🧾 Track everything:
Income + receipts + mileage log = less stress, less tax surprises 😮💨
⚠️ And one more thing: 1099-K rules don’t decide if it’s taxable. That form is just reporting. You still have to report your income either way.
If you’re hustling, let’s set it up right so you don’t get hit with penalties later 📈💼
