I am blessed to have attended a law school that focused on logical thinking and analysis to determine an outcome rather than focusing on proving a desired thought through logical thinking and analysis. The first furthers grace, empathy, growth and forgiveness while the latter furthers pride, self centeredness, stagnation and intolerance.
I cannot speak to the teachings of the school today. However, speaking to the turn of the century, I was most recently praised for my education. It was expressed that I must have attended a remarkable law school. Not only do I still know unrelated areas of law, but able to appropriately adjust with self driven reliable research. More importantly, that I am able to acknowledge applicable diversity due to time while still balancing the integrity of one's personal beliefs.
It made pause and reflect on the different political positions, religious beliefs, and personal beliefs held by my professors as well as their autonomy and respect of one another. I do not recall personal attacks or chastising for reasons related to beliefs. There was mutual respect with a presumption that beliefs were based on well reasoned analyses rather than personal opinions.
So again I thank the many professors who have influenced me through the years without knowing the true impact they have made. It remains true people learn and watch. I learned just as much watching how my professors responded and interacted as I did studying books.
A wonderful compliment to God the father, to my law school and all those who have made me who I am today. Lots of thanks!!!!!
