FAQ WEDNESDAY | Dandelion Tax Co.
β Can I file my taxes if I owe the IRS money from a previous year?
π‘ Answer: YES!
Owing the IRS money doesn't mean you can't file your current tax return!
Here's what you should know:
π° You can still file! Even if you have an outstanding tax balance, you can and should file your current return on time.
π§Ύ Expecting a refund? The IRS may apply some or all of your refund toward your past-due federal tax debt.
π Can't pay your balance in full? The IRS offers payment plans for eligible taxpayers.
β οΈ Don't avoid filing! Filing late can result in additional penalties, even if you can't afford to pay what you owe.
πΌ Remember: Filing your return and paying your tax balance are two different things. Don't let an old tax debt stop you from staying on track!
