Chris Greenwood - Northwestern Mutual Helping bring Hope, Joy, and Peace to your financial future one puzzle piece at a time. Holistic because I look at all the factors not just a segment of them.

The term "Financial Representative/Advisor/Planner" is used by different companies in many different ways. When I share what helping bring hope, joy, and peace looks like, I often start with what my role is not. I'm not...

the insurance guy (only helping with the defense)
the investment/retirement guy (only helping with the offense)

What I am is a Holistic Financial Planning Coach. Financial bec

ause I provide specific financial products, solutions, and counsel. Planning because the backbone of what I do is grounded in our planning process. Coach because my job is to make sure everyone on the team is focused on the same winning goal. When, if, and where there are gaps, it's my job to spot them and offer/provide solutions to fill them. My practice is structured around analyzing all four major financial areas:

Financial Protection – Disability, Life, Long Term Care Insurances & Savings (Emergency and Major Life Event)
Financial Production – Debt Reduction & Investments
Financial Provision – Receiving back from available Retirement & Investment Accounts in the most Tax Efficient Way
Financial Legacy – Generously and Strategically passing on Finances to the Next Generations

Whether you are an individual, family, and/or business owner, I look forward to learning more about you and seeing how I can help.

Markets have been supported by resilient growth and enthusiasm around artificial intelligence, but the policy backdrop may be changing. Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company Chief Investment Officer Brent Schutte explains why sticky inflation, higher debt costs and uncertainty around where AI-related gains ultimately land make diversification especially important. http://spr.ly/6184B1fa6O

Lighthouses.

I am basically an old soul and a bit of a romantic at heart so lighthouses have always been a bit of a throwback to a nostalgic day gone by for me.

The purpose of a lighthouse was pretty straightforward. Shine a light into the darkness to guide ships to safety in the dark.

Yet today, while lighthouses still exist, most don’t function and do what they were designed to do. It always makes me a bit sad to see something that used to such a life giving service offer reduced to a memory and relic of a day gone by.

I took this lighthouse picture near the town of Northeast, Maryland as it looks out over the Chesapeake Bay and it got me thinking.

Some things have and others will fade away like lighthouses in the days ahead. Some of that will be because of a transition in technology (landlines anyone?) and advancements of a culture (will thermography replace mammograms?). Other things might be simply because society has decided that certain things aren’t as meaningful or important as they used to be (family?).

What will remain for the foreseeable future is the opportunity to meet with another flesh and blood person who can guide, advise, and help you plan for your financial hopes, dreams, and goals.

I would love to be a lighthouse for you in the days ahead. You don’t have to walk and stumble in the darkness. I’m here to help.

Stories from a Real Life Planner

Retirement is about more than having enough money.
-----------------
They are in their late 50's. He just retired this past spring, and she is less than two years from stepping away. Between their investment accounts and her pension, they are going to be perfectly fine incomewise. It's just the two of them as their kids are all grown. They live a pretty simple life with no major bills and their big dream is to do some significant traveling once she retires.

They have their investments at a major investment firm but no one is offering any oversight or care. They missed out on 2 of the 4 best asset classes in the market last year and are way overweight in their bond portfolio. All that aside, they are going to be completely fine financially, and the kids will conservatively inherit 20-30 million of mostly taxable funds when they eventually pass away.

So, how can we help? With some basic investment strategies, strategic insurance solutions, and some individualized care, we can do three significant things:

1) More than double their legacy to around 65-75 million.
2) Save them around 1 million in taxes.
3) Position them to pass on tax-free or tax advantaged funds to their kids and beneficiaries instead of future taxed accounts.

------------------
It always comes back to the big four and making sure they are all accounted for:
1) Financial protection through disability, life, and long term care insurance
2) Financial production to make your money work for you through investment and tax mitigation strategies
3) Financial provision as you receive back funds from your retirement accounts in a tax optimized way
4) Financial legacy as you pass on meaningful assets to create generational wealth and/or lasting impact

What about you? Why not take 8 minutes and see if working with a CFP® is right for you?

Most parents budget for childcare like it's a grocery run: fixed cost, check the box. But between the backup plans that fall through, sick days, application fees, and the sheer mental load, it adds up to something a lot bigger. If you're trying to figure out how to actually plan for this stage of life, that's exactly the conversation I have with families every day. Let's connect.
