When will i get my refund?

Many different factors can affect the timing of a refund after the IRS receives a return. Although the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days, the IRS cautions taxpayers not to rely on receiving a refund by a certain date, especially when making major purchases or paying bills. Some returns may require additional review and may take longer. The easiest way to check a refund's status is by using Where's My Refund? on IRS.gov or the IRS2Go app.

Under the federal Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) refunds before mid-February. Where's My Refund? should show an updated status by February 17 for most early EITC/ACTC filers.

You can check the status of your 2023 income tax refund 24 hours after e-filing. Please allow 3 or 4 days after ...

The IRS expects most EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or on debit cards by February 27 if they chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return.

These people caused your property taxes to go up remember this when you go to vote:

This was done because the following council members chose to vote to increase taxes rather than stand up for the people who voted for them: Jeff Dawes, Randy Curless, Matthew Mize, Philip Dale, Lorissa Sweet. These two council members voted against it: Matt Dillon and Kyle Bowman. Make sure to vote against the members who choose to increase our taxes rather than look out for the working population of the county. Please share!

WASHINGTON ― The Internal Revenue Service announced that the nation's tax season will start on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, when the tax agency will begin accepting and processing 2020 tax year returns.
The Feb. 12 start date for individual tax return filers allows the IRS time to do additional programming and testing of IRS systems following the Dec. 27 tax law changes that provided a second round of Economic Impact Payments and other benefits.

IRS gives one shot at sending out a second $600 stimulus check — TAs $600 stimulus checks roll out,
some Americans are anxiously awaiting their own direct payments to hit their bank account or show up in their mailbox. The Internal Revenue Service said Tuesday it’s not going to re-issue $600 payments that come back to the agency if a bank account listed on a 2019 tax return is now closed or inactive. Instead, the would-be recipients will have to claim the amount when they file their taxes this year, according to the IRS

In addition to the design plans, the council has also considered several funding options including assuming a property tax levy passed through as well as without a referendum process, assuming an economic development rate increase of .60 percent and a special income tax rate of .20 percent, assuming a special income tax rate of .50 percent, and assuming a decrease in property tax relief income tax rate to offset special income tax rate. oh my a tax rate increase!

Reasons Why You Shouldn’t File Your Own Taxes:
- You got married, divorced or had a child

If you got married/divorced, had another child or lost a spouse, you might need help finding the best filing status for that year. Some of them are easy but others, (like being a widow) have time-sensitive dates.

Also, as your children get older, tax credits and deductions might expire depending on their ages. If your child goes to college full-time, you can still claim them — and any education expenses — until they’re 24. Determining these situations accurately takes someone who is knowledgeable.

Benefits to doing your own taxes:

-It’s less expensive
-Takes less time
-You know all the details

Benefits to hiring someone:

-They stay updated on changing tax laws
-You get expert and experienced advice
-An extra set of eyes to catch mistakes
-They become your advocate
-Find little known tax deductions
-They give tax guidance throughout the year

The Bottom Line

But in the event you’re not able to keep up, having a trustworthy tax professional in your corner can make all the difference

It’s no secret that tax refund fraud is big business for scammers. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) estimates it paid $3.1 billion in identity theft fraudulent refunds in filing season 2014. During that same time, the IRS stopped attempts to collect an additional $22.5 billion in fraudulent refunds (GAO study downloads as a pdf).

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has noted before that stopping fraud requires IRS to be a step ahead of the scammers. Congress thinks it has a plan to do just that. There’s just one problem: in the attempt to slow tax refund fraud, millions of families may have a longer wait next tax season to get their refund.

As part of the “Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH ) Act of 2015,” (P.L. 114-113) signed into law on December 18, 2015, the IRS must wait until February 15 to issue refunds to taxpayers who claimed the earned-income tax credit (EITC) or the child tax credit (CTC).
