EAs and CPAs are both knowledgeable, experienced professionals who are required to maintain high ethical standards. Both CPA and EA credentials must uphold stringent ethics standards. However, the CPA is regulated on the state level and the EA is regulated on the federal level. The primary difference between an EA vs CPA is that EAs specialize in taxation, and CPAs provide a wider scope of accounting practices in addition to taxation.
