Please beware of a new twist on an old scam:

People with DOT numbers are receiving emails from companies that have nothing to do with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration or the Department of Transportation.
We are always happy to check the DOT number status for any of our clients so please let us know if you receive suspicious letters, emails or texts.

NEW SCAM ALERT: FMCSA is aware of a phishing fake email being sent to carriers. This email, pretending to come from FMCSA, asks carriers to complete an attached form. In some cases, the email asks carriers to upload a copy of a certificate of insurance and Driver’s License to protect against fraud. The altered form requires a customer to provide their Social Security Number and USDOT Personal Identification Number.
Remember:
✅ FMCSA would not request this information on a form.
✅ Communications from FMCSA relating to information requests of this type would either request you to log in to your portal account or come directly from an FMCSA dedicated mailbox.
✅ Communications from FMCSA would come from an official FMCSA email address, NOT [email protected] or [email protected].
✅ Verify any email or communication you feel to be suspicious with FMCSA or the appropriate agency.
