If your income changed in 2026, your estimated payments may need to change too. Paying the correct amount by the September 15 deadline could help you avoid an underpayment penalty—and an expensive tax-season surprise.

Your income increased—great news! 🎉
But your old tax plan may no longer work.

A bonus, capital gain, profitable investment sale, IRA distribution, or successful side business can create a much bigger tax bill than expected.

Here’s what many taxpayers miss:

⚠️ Taxes are generally paid throughout the year
⚠️ Unexpected income may not have enough withholding
⚠️ Waiting until tax season may be too late to avoid an underpayment penalty
⚠️ The Q3 2026 federal underpayment rate for individuals is 7% annually

If your income changed, review your withholding and estimated tax payments now. A timely adjustment could reduce your tax-time balance and help limit potential penalties.

Generally, no federal underpayment penalty applies when the remaining tax due after withholding and refundable credits is less than $1,000—but individual circumstances matter.

🚨 SEPTEMBER 2026 TAX DEADLINES
YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS!

Two important dates are coming up for individual taxpayers:

📅 SEPTEMBER 10
If you received more than $20 in tips during August, report them to your employer using Form 4070 or a qualifying signed statement.

📅 SEPTEMBER 15
The third-quarter 2026 estimated tax payment is due. This may apply if you’re:

✓ Self-employed
✓ A freelancer or independent contractor
✓ Earning side-business or investment income
✓ Not having enough tax withheld

Waiting until tax season could mean a surprise balance—and possibly an underpayment penalty.

🚨 SEPTEMBER 2026 VISA BULLETIN UPDATE

Big movement for families! 🇺🇸

The September Visa Bulletin brings significant forward movement across several family-sponsored immigration categories, with some priority dates advancing by more than TWO YEARS.

📈 Final Action Date highlights for Worldwide / Most Countries:

🔹 F1: +1 year, 1 month, 7 days
🔹 F2A: +1 month
🔹 F2B: +1 year, 7 months, 21 days
🔥 F3: +2 years, 5 months, 7 days
🔥 F4: +2 years, 1 month, 21 days

There’s also encouraging movement in the Dates for Filing chart.

✅ F2A remains CURRENT for Dates for Filing across all listed chargeability areas.

⚠️ Important: “Current” for F2A refers to the Dates for Filing chart, not the Final Action Dates chart. Adjustment-of-status applicants should also check which chart USCIS authorizes for filing each month.

September closes out Fiscal Year 2026 with some of the strongest family-category movement we’ve seen this year—but forward movement does not mean the underlying immigration backlog has disappeared.

📌 Have a pending family-based immigration case? Check your priority date. This movement could affect your next step.

🚨 SEPTEMBER 2026 VISA BULLETIN:
EMPLOYMENT-BASED UPDATE 🇺🇸

While family-sponsored categories saw significant movement this month, the story for employment-based green cards is very different.

⏸️ MOST EMPLOYMENT-BASED FINAL ACTION DATES REMAIN UNCHANGED

For September 2026, EB-1, EB-2, EB-3, Other Workers and EB-5 Unreserved generally remain at their August Final Action Dates across the applicable chargeability areas.

🟢 THE MAIN EXCEPTION: EB-4 + CERTAIN RELIGIOUS WORKERS

📅 October 15, 2022 → December 15, 2022

📈 Advance: 2 months

The FY2026 worldwide employment-based preference limit is 186,317, compared with 226,000 for family-sponsored preferences. The standard per-country preference limit is 28,862.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: A priority date being current—or remaining current—does not automatically mean you can file Form I-485. Applicants should always check the USCIS monthly chart selection before filing.

September is the final month of FY2026, so visa-number availability and reported demand remain especially important.

📌 Employment-based case pending? Check your priority date and category carefully.

✈️ Summer is over.
🎒 Back to school.
💻 Back to work.

And here we go again… 😂

But before we get too responsible, let’s not forget one very important item on the fall to-do list:

BOOK. THE. NEXT. TRIP. ✈️🌍

Because having something to look forward to makes those early mornings, long workdays and endless emails hit a little differently. 😉

Work hard. Save smart. Travel often. Repeat.

And remember…

Booking a vacation is NOT a tax deduction just because it motivates you to make more money. 😂
Nice try, though.

But motivation?
That part is priceless. ✈️💰

So… where are we booking next? 👀🌎

📌 SAVE this for your next business trip.
📲 SEND it to the friend who’s always saying, “I need a vacation.”

And since we’re talking money… here’s your friendly tax reminder:

💰 Traveling for business? Some ordinary and necessary business-travel costs may be deductible when the trip qualifies.

✈️ Airfare & transportation: Business-related airfare, trains, taxis and rideshare expenses may qualify.

🏨 Hotels: Lodging while traveling away from your tax home for business may be deductible.

🍽️ Meals: Qualifying business meals while traveling are generally subject to deduction limitations.

🚗 Keep your receipts & records: Document the business purpose, dates, destination and expenses while everything is fresh.

⚠️ Business + vacation? Adding a meeting to your vacation doesn’t automatically make the entire trip deductible. When business and personal travel are mixed, allocation rules can apply.

So… where are we booking next? 👀🌎

🎒📚 BACK TO SCHOOL = BACK TO TAX SAVINGS! 💰✏️

School supplies are filling the carts, backpacks are packed… but before the school year gets into full swing, make sure you’re not leaving potential tax benefits on the table. 👀

🍎 Teachers: Keep those classroom receipts! Certain unreimbursed educator expenses may qualify for a deduction.

🎓 College Parents & Students: Don’t overlook the American Opportunity Tax Credit or Lifetime Learning Credit if you qualify.

💰 Saving with a 529 Plan? Qualified distributions can provide valuable tax advantages when used for eligible education expenses.

✨ The lesson of the day: LEARN. PLAN. SAVE.
Because smart back-to-school planning can mean smarter tax savings. 💛

A summer job is more than a paycheck—it’s your child’s first tax lesson.

A teen’s first job comes with new responsibilities, including understanding how taxes work.

Here’s what parents should know:
✔️ Wages are taxable income and may need to be reported if filing requirements are met.
✔️ A Form W-2 is the primary tax document for most working teens.
✔️ The standard deduction often protects modest earnings, but filing thresholds change each year.
✔️ Even if no tax is owed, filing a return may help your child receive a refund of any federal income tax withheld.

💡 A first paycheck is a great opportunity to teach budgeting, saving, investing, and financial responsibility.

📞 Need help determining whether your child needs to file a tax return? A & B Services Company is here to help.

👨‍👧 Hiring your child can be a smart tax strategy—but only if you follow the rules.

Putting your child on your business payroll can do more than teach responsibility. It may help:

✔️ Shift income to your child’s lower tax bracket
✔️ Teach valuable work and money management skills
✔️ Help your child begin earning Social Security credits
✔️ Keep more wealth within your family

But remember:
📌 The job must be legitimate.
📌 Pay must be reasonable for the work performed.
📌 Keep accurate payroll and time records.
📌 Follow all IRS and child labor rules.

💡 When done correctly, employing your child can be a win-win for both your business and your family’s financial future.

📞 Thinking about hiring your child? Let A & B Services Company help you set it up the right way.

⚠️ Rule #1: Pay a reasonable wage.

Hiring your child can provide valuable tax benefits—but only if you pay them a fair wage for the work they actually perform.

The IRS expects your child’s pay to be similar to what you would pay any other employee doing the same job.

To stay compliant:
✔️ Pay a reasonable wage for the work performed.
✔️ Keep detailed time records.
✔️ Create a written job description.
✔️ Maintain proof of payment, such as payroll records or checks.

💡 Good documentation not only protects your business during an IRS audit—it also teaches your child responsibility and the value of earning a payche
