October is here, and that means it is officially the season of fall festivities. Halloween, arguably one of the largest fall festivities, is right around the corner, and we have one very important question on our minds: Which traditional fall sweet treat is your go-to favorite?

🍎 Vote caramel apple

🥧 Vote pumpkin pie

Both are fall classics, both have their devoted fans, and both deserve a spot at the table. But which one gets your vote?

Drop your pick in the comments. We are curious to see which treat takes the win this month!

As we reach the midpoint of 2026, it’s a great time to take a fresh look at your tax planning. A mid-year review can help you spot opportunities, avoid surprises, and make meaningful adjustments long before the next tax season rolls around.

Our team at M. Hughes, CPA & Company, LLC often sees how proactive planning can make a big difference for both individuals and small businesses here in Warren, Bristol, Barrington, and the South Coast. Even small tweaks now can simplify your tax preparation later and support a smoother financial finish to the year.

If you’d like to talk through strategies or see where you stand, we’re always here to help. Give us a call or send us a message—our team is ready when you are.

Most business owners want to stay off the IRS radar, and the good news is that consistent habits can help reduce your audit risk. We’ve shared the first set of year‑round practices we recommend to help keep your books clean and your filings accurate.

If your business ever receives an IRS notice, we always remind clients not to panic. Taking a calm, organized approach—responding carefully, gathering the right documents, and getting professional guidance—can make all the difference.

If you’ve received a notice or want to talk through any of these tips, our team at M. Hughes, CPA & Company, LLC is here to help. We’re always happy to review your records and answer questions.

As we reflect on Patriot Day, our team at M. Hughes, CPA & Company, LLC pauses to honor the lives lost on September 11 and the tremendous strength shown by first responders, volunteers, and everyday individuals.

Even as a local CPA firm here in Warren, we’re reminded of the resilience that brings communities together during their hardest moments. That spirit continues to inspire us in the way we support the people and small businesses we serve.

We remember, we honor, and we will never forget.

Labor Day is a time to celebrate the hard-working people who keep our communities running, and at M. Hughes, CPA & Company, LLC, we believe the best way to honor that is by taking a well-earned break.
