To address such problems, Watsonville voters approved a measure in 2014 that increased funding to fight gangs and crime, support efforts to keep youth safe and out of trouble, increase neighborhood police patrols and support fire and paramedic 911 response. Today, through our community’s investment in public safety, Watsonville has the lowest crime rates in Santa Cruz County. The Safety of our com
munity has improved and it’s essential that we continue to provide local resources for public safety. The 2014 tax measure will expire soon. Measure Y will continue funding for critical police and fire services, including programs for children and teens that keep them off the streets and out of trouble, without increasing taxes. Measure Y will continue current levels of public safety and police services, including neighborhood police support, and crime and gang prevention programs.
