Given the election season, you may think this is yet another dehumanizing political ad describing my political opponent. Thankfully, it is not. You do not need to change the channel.

Yet there are insensitive brutes out there. They defy social norms by saying the wrong words at the wrong time, offering unsolicited opinions, or engaging their mouth instead of their ears. They are insensitive to other people’s needs.

Right now, the Federal Reserve is struggling to cope with two insensitive economic brutes who really don’t care about the Fed’s battle to bring inflation down.

These insensitive brutes are seemingly desensitized to the Federal Reserve’s primary tool for reducing inflation – higher interest rates. They continue to borrow money at ever-higher rates and drive increased consumer and business consumption, which keeps the economy humming but also keeps inflation pressure elevated.

We’ve reached the time of year when orange becomes one of the dominant colors you see as you look around outside. Trees have begun to change, some with brilliant orange leaves. Orange pumpkins are starting to dot roadside stands and front porches. And soon enough, as we approach gun deer season in Wisconsin, you’ll see blaze orange in the woods and around town.
My son has reached the age where he’s interested in hunting (at least in theory) and may want to accompany me to deer camp next month. So, for the past couple of weeks, we’ve been attending hunter safety classes together. I want him to know how to stay safe in the woods, even if he only observes this year.
At the start of every class, the instructors have had the kids recite the four cardinal rules of hunter safety, emphasizing that failing to follow one or more of these rules can lead to a fi***rm accident. They are:
