Re-elect Owen Rumelt to the West Hempstead Public Library Board I am running for re-election because I believe that a top-quality library is a major assets for our community.

As a member of the Board for the past two years, I have helped ensure that the library continues to offer a extensive number of programs to meet the needs of West Hempstead residents. As we are mindful of economic conditions, we have tried to keep taxes low without sacrificing services. I hope that you will help me continue the work I have been doing by voting for me on May 17.

It has come to my attention that my opponent has withdrawn his candidacy and that, as a result, there will not be a contested election this year. I would like to thank all for their support and look forward to continuing to serve the West Hempstead community. We now return to our regular programming.

In what is clearly not the "norm," there will be uncontested elections for the WH Board of Education this year and a contested election for the Library Board. Fortunately, I will be on the top row of the ballot and my opponent on the second row.

Election day is May 19, with voting in the WH Middle School Gymnasium. The proposed Library Budget will be presented at the BOE meeting on May 9.
