Conversion from Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA:

This is a taxable transaction first off so, you will pay tax on the amount includible in income for the year of the conversion. Also, keep in mind that you will not be able to take a qualified distribution from the new Roth IRA for five tax years succeeding the conversion considering the conversion the first contribution.
