Corrigan Krause is proud to announce our LAUNCH/Internship Program won the Engage! Cleveland Generation NEXT Award: Program of the Year in the mid-size company category!

Corrigan Krause’s LAUNCH program stands as a model for how the firm meaningfully invests in the next generation of accounting professionals. Designed as a one-day summer leadership experience, LAUNCH brings college students and early-career accountants into our Westlake headquarters at Crocker Park for an immersive introduction to the profession. Participants connect directly with our Tax, Audit, and Consulting leaders, gain clarity on certification pathways, and build the confidence needed to navigate the earliest stages of their careers. This program reflects our belief that developing strong accountants begins long before a full-time offer; it begins with access, mentorship, and community.

What makes LAUNCH exceptional is that it is not a standalone event, but the first step in a student to associate journey. After LAUNCH, students can continue their journey through our Administrative internship, Full-time internship, and ultimately our Associate roles. Each stage is defined with its own unique purpose: Administrative interns gain operational exposure, full-time interns work directly with engagement teams, and new associates step into the profession with confidence, context, and a support system already in place. This progression ensures that participants don’t just learn about accounting; they grow into professionals who understand the culture, expectations, and opportunities of the field.

LAUNCH started with eight participants two years ago and rapidly grew to over 25 this past May. There are currently three full time employees at Corrigan Krause who came through the program. LAUNCH participants now account for about half of Corrigan Krause's seasonal interns. This program streamlines the interviewing process for both interns and our team, plus gets a great number of young professionals excited about the wide range of opportunities at a public accounting firm.

At the heart of this program is the commitment to people as Corrigan Krause welcomes individuals from all backgrounds. By empowering students to harness their potential, build meaningful networks, and envision long-term careers in accounting, Corrigan Krause is not only shaping future professionals, but strengthening the future of the firm and the industry altogether.

Welcome to Tax Tip Tuesday! One of the best ways taxpayers can protect themselves from identity theft is by requesting an Identity Protection Personal Identification Number.

What taxpayers should know about an IP PIN:

💡 Anyone with a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number can request a free IP PIN, including taxpayers living abroad.
💡 It’s a unique six-digit number known only to the taxpayer and the IRS.
💡 It helps verify a taxpayer's identity when they file a federal tax return. It also protects the taxpayer's account, even if they aren't required to file a return.
💡 Taxpayers must verify their identity before receiving an IP PIN.
💡 Tax professionals cannot request an IP PIN for a client but may use the number provided by the taxpayer when preparing and filing a return.
💡 A new IP PIN is issued each year for added security.
💡 Taxpayers who request an IP PIN online will need to retrieve their new one annually, starting mid to late January.
💡 Taxpayers who receive an IP PIN must include it on all federal tax returns they file during the year, including prior-year and amended returns.

The quickest and easiest way to request an IP PIN is through an IRS Individual Account. After signing in, taxpayers can select the IP PIN option under their profile. Those who do not already have an account will need to complete the identity verification process before requesting an IP PIN.

REMEMBER: The IRS will never call, email, text, or message a taxpayer through social media channels to request their IP PIN.

If you are self-employed as a freelancer, small business owner or gig worker, or if you earn income from any non-wage source, it’s highly likely that you are responsible for quarterly estimated tax payments.

Estimated tax payments are payments made to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on a quarterly basis, instead of once per year. The idea is that those who don’t have their taxes automatically withheld from their earnings throughout the year are responsible for manually making payments to the IRS.

The Internal Revenue Service today announced that interest rates will remain the same for the calendar quarter beginning Oct. 1, 2026.

For individuals, the rate for overpayments and underpayments will be 7% per year, compounded daily. Here is a complete list of the new rates:

➡️ 7% for overpayments (payments made in excess of the amount owed), 6% for corporations.
➡️ 4.5% for the portion of a corporate overpayment exceeding $10,000.
➡️ 7% for underpayments (taxes owed but not fully paid).
➡️ 9% for large corporate underpayments.

Under the Internal Revenue Code, the rate of interest is determined on a quarterly basis. For taxpayers other than corporations, the overpayment and underpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 3 percentage points.
