Tax filing deadline (April 15th) is a little over a week away. Make sure to get your taxes in. If you're running out of time, an extension can be filed for you. An extension gives you more time to file, but it does not give you more time to pay. If you owe and pay after April 15th, you will get hit with interest from April 15th until you pay the amount due.

S Corp and Partnership tax returns are due March 17th. If you run out of time, you can file an extension which will give you until Sept 15th to file that return.

Today is the first day the IRS has opened the e-Filing for tax returns! Tax season for 2024 tax returns has officially kicked off.

If you use Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, etc., the threshold to receive a 1099-K is $5,000 for 2024. This will drop to $2,500 for 2025, and then to $600 for 2026.

You will only pay tax on earnings/profits from sales or "business like" transactions; reimbursements are not taxable earnings. If you receive a 1099-K for reimbursements, they will need to be backed out on your personal tax return.

Make sure to get your BOI Report filed! This is for LLC, S Corp, and C Corp's.

Filing deadlines:
A reporting company created or registered to do business before January 1, 2024, will have until January 1, 2025, to file its initial BOI report.

A reporting company created or registered in 2024 will have 90 calendar days to file after receiving actual or public notice that its creation or registration is effective.

A reporting company created or registered on or after January 1, 2025, will have 30 calendar days to file after receiving actual or public notice that its creation or registration is effective.

Some companies are exempt from this filing. Check the website below for exempt lines of work.

The link below will take you to the website where you'll be able to file this report.

Many companies are required to report information to FinCEN about the individuals who ultimately own or control them. FinCEN began accepting reports on January 1, 2024. Learn more about reporting deadlines.

I've had several people inquire about the new FinCEN reporting Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) requirements for business owners.

This is for LLC, S Corp, or C Corp owners.

If you registered your business before January 1, 2024, you will have until January 1, 2025 to report BOI.

Businesses created in 2024 have 90 days from the business creation or registration date.

Businesses created after January 1, 2025, must file initial reports within 30 days of creation or registration.
