"How are we doing? Will we have enough for retirement?"
It's probably the most common question we hear.
Many people think the answer starts with how much they've saved.
It doesn't.
It starts with a few simple questions:
• How much do you spend today?
• How much do you expect to spend in retirement?
• After taxes, will your retirement income be enough to cover those expenses?
If the answer is yes, you're likely in a much stronger position than you realize.
Retirement planning isn't about reaching a magic dollar amount. It's about creating enough after-tax income to support the lifestyle you want to live.
Knowing your numbers—and having a plan—is often the clearest way to answer the question, "Are we going to be okay?"
