Rumors about a federal $1,390 inflation stimulus check being sent by the IRS in November 2025 are false. No new federal stimulus checks have been authorized for 2025, and Congress has not passed any new legislation. The IRS warns that these rumors are often used in scams to trick people into sharing personal information.
Regarding stimulus payments:
The last round of federal stimulus payments was the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit from 2021. The final deadline to claim this credit was April 15, 2025, and this deadline has now passed.
Some news outlets falsely reported on the $1,390 payment, but other outlets and the IRS itself have debunked this.
In December 2024 and January 2025, the IRS automatically sent payments of up to $1,400 to about 1 million taxpayers who were eligible for the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit but had not claimed it. This was not a new stimulus, but a final processing of unclaimed funds from the 2021 tax year.
