For individuals managing significant assets, timing can play an important role in financial decision-making. That’s why one of the key benefits of a mid-year financial review is the opportunity to make proactive adjustments rather than rushed year-end decisions.

When planning is left until the end of the year, options may be more limited. A mid-year review can provide the flexibility to evaluate your strategy and consider adjustments such as:

🔹 Reviewing cash flow and liquidity needs.
🔹 Rebalancing investments after market movement.
🔹 Adjusting risk exposure within your portfolio.
🔹 Planning around upcoming financial events.

Proactive planning often allows for more thoughtful and strategic financial decisions. If you would like to review your current financial strategy, give us a call today. We are here to help.

A few weeks ago we spread my grandparents’ ashes on the farm they loved on a hill in a pasture overlooking a herd of cattle.

That thought has really stayed with me. Will the farm be in our family name when I return to that Southern Ohio dirt?

Growing up, I never saw the farm as just acres or cattle. Lessons were learned. Faith was lived. Work mattered.
As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized something.

Every family farm has a story.
But too many stories end—not because the family wanted them to, but because there was no transition plan, no tax strategy, or no conversation before it was too late.
That’s why I do what I do.

My goal isn’t simply to help families reduce taxes or organize finances. It’s to help ensure that when the next generation looks across the fields, they’re looking at their family’s legacy—not something that had to be sold.

Because some things are worth passing on.

A lot of people think tax planning is only for the ultra-wealthy.

It’s not.

In many cases, the families who benefit most are simply the ones who become more intentional earlier.

Small adjustments made consistently over time can create meaningful long-term impact.

That’s why we review tax returns through a planning lens — not just a filing lens.

The goal isn’t complexity.

The goal is clarity.

A surprising number of financial problems don’t start with bad investments.

They start with disconnected decisions.

One account here.
One strategy there.
One tax surprise after another.

Over time, that lack of coordination becomes expensive.

Your tax return helps connect the dots:
• Income
• Retirement savings
• Investment positioning
• Future withdrawal risks

Because good financial planning isn’t just about earning more.

It’s about making smarter decisions with the full picture in front of you.

One of the biggest financial mistakes I see?

People treat taxes like a once-a-year event instead of a long-term strategy.

They focus on:
“How much do I owe?”

Instead of asking:
“Why is my money flowing this way in the first place?”

Your tax return quietly reveals:
• Inefficient retirement savings
• Missed planning opportunities
• Future tax problems
• Investment decisions that may be costing more than people realize

The highest-performing financial plans aren’t built in April.

They’re built year-round with intention.

That’s why reviewing tax returns has become one of the most important conversations in our office.

Here are the key changes to pay attention to:
1. Increased state and local tax deduction
2. Enhanced deductions for seniors
3. New tax benefits for tips and overtime
4. New car loan interest deduction
5. Higher standard deduction
Each of these changes has its own rules, qualifications, and planning opportunities
attached.
The real question is not what changed. It is how these changes apply to your income, your
filing status, and your goals.
Let’s discuss how these apply to you!

You don’t see many combines in the fields right now.

Because it’s planting season.

No one expects a harvest…
without putting seed in the ground first.

Same goes for your finances.

You don’t just arrive at retirement.
You build toward it.

• Saving = planting
• Planning = preparation
• Time = growth

Skip the early work…
and there’s nothing to harvest later.

What are you planting today?

If you want a clear plan for your financial future, I can help you build it.
