Teachers, instructors, counselors, principals, and aides can potentially deduct up to $300 in qualifying, unreimbursed educator expenses on their federal tax return.
✏️ Did you purchase books, classroom supplies, computer equipment, software, or pay for professional development out of your own pocket? Those expenses may qualify.
To be eligible, you generally must work at least 900 hours during the school year in a K-12 school.
📚 Keep those receipts and records throughout the year. Every qualifying expense can make a difference when tax time arrives!
And if both spouses are eligible educators filing jointly, the combined deduction can be up to $600, with a maximum of $300 per spouse.
