There are two words that immediately tell me a business owner may not have been properly advised:
"1099 employee."
Most business owners who use that phrase aren't doing anything intentionally wrong. In many cases, they've simply been given incomplete information.
In my latest article, I explain why those two words matter, why worker classification is about much more than a tax form, and how asking one simple question today can help prevent costly problems tomorrow.
If you're a business owner—or you advise business owners—I think you'll find this worth the read.
