A dear friend of mine has elderly parents that are no longer able to care for themselves and require assistance. Like many elderly people, her parents take several medications each day; some several times per day. Some pills were taken first thing in the morning, others with meals, still others at bedtime. While her parents took medications several times each day, different medications were required each time.
She found that, because of the irregular medication schedule, caregivers were making mistakes. In order to simplify medication instructions, she developed an ingenious system to easily communicate her parents’ medication schedule. Additionally, it made it easier to inform physicians of medications being taken at appointments.
I encourage anyone who needs to organize or track medications to look at Pillmap at pillmap.com. It truly could help save a life.
