'Tis the season friends! As soon as you get your W2s, send them my way! April 18, 2023 is this year's deadline.

Other forms you may need before filing:
-1099NEC - if you worked as a contractor for places such as Uber, Doordash, Lyft, etc.
- 1099K - if you accept money from CashApp, Venmo, PayPal, etc.(more than $600 received must be reported. Only taxed if its for business. Personal transactions like reimbursing your roommate for bills or dinner aren't taxable.)

The deadline for employers to mail these forms is January 31st.

2021 had a lot tax breaks that were enacted for the 2021 tax year; however, most of those tax law changes expired at the end of 2021. That means the child tax credit, child and dependent care credit, earned income credit and other popular tax breaks are different for the 2022 tax year than they were for 2021. This is important to understand when it comes to your tax refund or amount due.

Happy tax season!

Refund Status update:

Due to the Path Act that congress passed in 2015 the IRS is not allowed to issue any refunds that have the Earned Income Credit (EIC) are the Additional Child Tax Credit UNTIL AFTER FEBRUARY 15TH. NOT ON FEBRUARY 15TH. .

The IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or debit cards starting March 1, 2022 if these taxpayers chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return.

Where's My Refund? ‎on IRS.gov and the IRS2Go mobile app will be updated February 19 for the vast majority of early filers who claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit. These taxpayers will not see a refund date on Where's My Refund? or through their software packages until then. The IRS, tax preparers and tax software will not have additional information on refund dates, so Where’s My Refund? remains the best way to check the status of a refund. Where’s My Refund? is only updated once daily, usually overnight, so checking it more often will not produce new or different results.

The IRS is officially accepting and processing 2021 Tax Returns. If you have all of your documentation, reach out to me so we can get your taxes filed ASAP!

*Please remember, in addition to your W2 you also need Letter # 6475 for the Stimulus payment and Letter #6419 for the Child Tax Credit. Both will be mailed from the IRS*

01/04/2022

Hello 2022!
Tax Season is upon us.

The IRS will begin accepting returns on January 24, 2022. There will be additional things needed before you can file this year.
- You will still need all your W2s from all jobs worked 1/1/2021-12/31/2021
- Letter #6475 - This is the Stimulus Money letter detailing exactly how much you received in 2021
- Letter #6419 - Anyone that received the Advanced Child Tax Credit Payments will receive this letter.

The above mentioned letters will be mailed directly to you from the IRS. The information from BOTH of these letters must be included on your 2021 Tax Return.

As a tax preparer, I can only do your taxes to the best of my ability based off the information you provide. If you do not provide Stimulus and/or Child Tax Credit Payment information and this applies to you, your refund will be delayed!

The IRS has been delayed since 2020. There are still lots of refunds from 2020 that have not been released. Please know, that once your tax return is summitted to the IRS, there is nothing else I can do, except check the status daily and provide you with updates.

Happy Tax Season and let me know as soon as you're ready to file!
