California Employers take note if you have payroll! From the IRS:

"Due to outstanding federal unemployment loans, CA is subject to Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) credit reduction for 2025. This means California businesses will owe additional FUTA taxes on Form 940 for 2025."

Here is the "Why":

When states take loans from the Federal Unemployment Trust Fund, and has outstanding loan balances for 2 consecutive years, the FUTA credit rate for employers is reduced until the loan is repaid resulting in employers owing additional FUTA tax.

Retroactive R&D credits are available, primarily for eligible small businesses, under the new One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), signed into law on July 4, 2025. This law permanently restores the ability to immediately expense domestic R&D costs and offers specific retroactive relief for the 2022-2024 tax years. Contact your tax specialist for more information and to see if you meet the eligibility requirements.

This is a day I will never forget. Sadly now I can add 9/10/2025 to that list as well. In all this evil meant to divide us I know one truth, Jesus is still King of Kings and our light in this dark world, God is still close to the brokenhearted, and evil does not win. May this Day of Remembrance be a day to reflect on what is in our own hearts and how we can do better. 🇺🇸

Proud of Deputy Nichols and Deputy Garza 👏👏👏

2025 World Police and Fire Games:

This year’s Games featured more than 60 different sports and brought together over 8,700 athletes from more than 60 countries. The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a competitive international event for law enforcement and fire service personnel.

Deputy Jace Garza and Deputy Mikell Nichols competed in 6 shotgun disciplines: Trap, Handicap, Trap Doubles, S***t, S***t Doubles, and Sporting Clays.

Deputy Garza brought home 11 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal & 2 Bronze Medals.

Deputy Nichols brought home 4 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medals & 1 Bronze Medal.

The duo finished with a total of 15 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals & 3 Bronze Medals! What a way to represent Sutter County!
