When we're young, most all of us have aspirations of retiring early. The trouble is, that with traditional retirement accounts, we wouldn't be able to access our money until 59 1/2 without steep penalties. I don't know about you, but I don't think anybody should tell me when I can or cannot access my investment.

Imagine you called a contractor to repair damage to your roof and instead they showed up with a gallon of paint.

They proceeded to insist that what you need, is a fresh coat of paint, rather than a repair to your roof.

For some people, this can be what happens in the financial services industry. However, industry training teaches us that, if you're not authorized to sell a product that is suitable for your client, then you do not have a product to sell.

This does NOT mean we force our clients into products that are not suitable for them.

Whomever you are speaking with about potential financial products, it is important that they understand what YOUR needs are, what YOUR goals are, and which products might be best for you, even if it is not theirs.

If you don't feel comfortable with the information being provided, then they are not the person you want helping you with these decisions.

Last Thursday at the OKC Wine Women & Wealth we chatted about how expensive kids are.
