Are you looking for a CPA? Or will an EA suffice for your needs? A CPA is likely to offer a broader viewpoint. Consider:
A CPA -- Certified Public Accountant -- is licensed by the State Board of Accountancy and is qualified to perform numerous accounting (not just tax-related) tasks. A CPA is required to complete a Bachelor's degree (though many complete a Master's), and must obtain 120 hours of CPE (continuing professional education) every 3 years.
An EA -- Enrolled Agent -- is a Tax Professional who is credentialed by the IRS and is not required to have a degree. EAs are required to obtain 72 hours of CPE every 3 years.
Both EAs and CPAs are Circular 230 Professionals, meaning that they are authorized to speak to the IRS on your behalf. This can be helpful when getting one of those scary IRS letters!
I'm a CPA, by the way. Just to be clear! :)
