The IRS has announced Monday, Jan. 27th as the official start date of the nation's 2025 tax season when the agency will begin accepting and processing 2024 individual tax returns.
The IRS cannot issue refunds for tax returns claiming the Earn Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit before February. The IRS must hold the entire refund until the review is complete.
