In the days leading up to Christmas and the usual frenzy of shopping, eating and drinking that ensues, it is important to remember that January has 542 days in it 😆 I thought it might be helpful to list a few points to take into consideration this Festive Season.
🎄Avoid dipping into your emergency fund to buy presents for loved ones. Shop carefully and make use of any loyalty points that you may have accumulated during the year to reduce the burden on your cashflow.
🎄Set a realistic budget for the Festive Season before going to the shops. It is very easy to get drawn into the magic of buying gifts and this could lead to overspending.
🎄Try to avoid funding the Festive Season with your credit cards. The burden of having to service debt repayments in the New year will add to your financial stress.
🎄 If you are entertaining friends and family at your home, ask everyone to bring something to the party. It will help to keep your own costs in check if you share the financial load of food and drink with your friends and family.
🎄 Be realistic about the gifts you buy for your children. The new year brings with it the added costs of stationary, textbooks and uniforms. It will reduce your financial burden in January if you are able to stick to your gift budget over the festive season.
