After more than 20 years as a CFP®️, I've learned that numbers are only the visible part of financial planning.

The real work happens beneath the surface: listening, understanding, creating a safe space for honest conversations, and helping people navigate life's biggest transitions with clarity and confidence.

That's the part of this profession I love most.

Visit mvestfinance.co.za or send me a DM - I’d love to start the conversation with you!

Financial confidence isn't about having all the answers.

Many people think confidence comes from having more money.

But in my experience, it comes from something far more valuable:
• Knowing where you stand.
• Having clarity about where you're going.
• Trusting that you have a plan to get there.

None of us can predict the future.

Financial confidence isn't about certainty - it's about feeling equipped to navigate whatever life brings.

It's having important conversations before decisions become crises.
It's understanding your options.
It's knowing that uncertainty doesn't have to become fear.

The goal isn't perfection.

It's confidence.
It's resilience.
It's peace of mind.

True financial confidence isn't about having all the answers. It's about having the clarity to make your next life decision with purpose.

What gives you the greatest confidence about your financial future?

Some of the biggest financial decisions aren't the ones we make.
They're the ones we postpone.

It's rarely a lack of information that keeps people stuck.

More often, it's uncertainty.

The investment that never gets started.
The retirement conversation that keeps getting pushed back.
The estate plan that's always on the to-do list.
The difficult family discussion that never quite feels like the right time.

Waiting can feel like the safer option.

But over time, avoiding a decision becomes a decision in itself.

One of the greatest benefits of financial planning isn't having all the answers.

It's having someone walk alongside you while you take the next step.

Progress doesn't require certainty.
It requires movement.

Clarity often follows action - not the other way around.

💭 What financial conversation or decision have you been putting off, and what's stopping you?

We like to think our financial decisions are driven by logic.

That we carefully weigh up the facts, analyse the numbers, and make rational choices.
But money is rarely that simple.

Our financial decisions are often shaped by experiences we've had, lessons we've learned, and beliefs we've carried for years - sometimes without even realising it.

The way we think about saving, spending, investing, risk, debt, and success is often influenced by messages we absorbed growing up.

Two people can face the exact same financial opportunity and walk away with completely different decisions.

Not because one is right and the other is wrong.

But because each person's relationship with money has been shaped by a different story.

Understanding the numbers matters.
Understanding yourself matters too.

The strongest financial plans aren't just technically sound, they're aligned with your values, goals, and the life you want to create.

💭 What money beliefs did you inherit growing up - and do they still serve you today?

Financial planning starts with numbers.
But it rarely stays there.

It starts with the courage to begin a conversation.

Over time, through listening, understanding and trust, those conversations help people navigate some of life's biggest decisions and transitions.

I've come to believe that the real value of financial planning isn't found in spreadsheets or projections alone.

It's found in the ongoing, meaningful conversations that help people achieve long-term financial and life wellbeing.

Most people would rather talk about almost anything else before money.

Why?

Because money conversations can trigger shame.
Or fear.
Or conflict.

For some, money carries the weight of past mistakes.
For others, it brings anxiety about the future.
And for many families, it becomes the topic that everyone avoids - until avoidance creates even more tension.

But something powerful happens when we create a safe space for honest conversation.

A space without judgement.
A space where people feel heard instead of criticised.
A space where questions are welcomed and concerns can be shared openly.
Safe conversations create clarity.
They build trust.
They strengthen relationships.
And often, they become the first step towards meaningful financial progress.

As a financial planner and coach, I’ve learned that the numbers are only part of the story. The real work often begins when people feel safe enough to talk about what money means to them.

Who makes you feel seen, safe and understood when talking about money?

07/06/2026

Money shapes far more than our bank accounts.

Over the years, I’ve seen how money can influence relationships, decisions, confidence, family dynamics, and even the stories we tell ourselves about success and security.

The numbers matter, but the emotions behind them often matter just as much.

When we understand what money represents in our lives, we can make better decisions, have healthier conversations, and create a more meaningful financial future.

What does money mean to you?

Behind every financial plan is a human story.

Over the years, I’ve learned that some of the most important moments in financial planning have very little to do with markets, returns, or spreadsheets.

They happen during life’s biggest transitions - when emotions run high, decisions feel overwhelming, and people need clarity, support, and understanding.

Financial advice isn’t only about helping people reach their goals.

It’s about helping them navigate change with confidence, no matter what chapter of life they find themselves in.

When life changes, your financial support should evolve with it.
