π° Did you know? The official SARS tax threshold for individuals under 65 is R95,750 per year (2025/2026 tax year) β about R7,979/month. If you earn below this and PAYE was still deducted from your payslip, that money could be refundable to you!
This threshold comes from the primary rebate set out in section 6 of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962 β the rebate that determines the income level below which no tax is payable. If tax was deducted anyway, you can claim it back by filing a return with SARS.
