💼 Are you a provisional taxpayer? Don't miss the first provisional tax payment deadline for the 2027 tax year on 31 August 2026.

Who is a provisional taxpayer?

✔️ Companies (unless specifically excluded)
✔️ Individuals earning income other than a salary (such as rental, investment, freelance or business income)
✔️ Labour brokers with exemption certificates
✔️ Taxpayers notified by SARS

Why is provisional tax important?

Provisional tax is not an additional tax—it's a way of paying your annual income tax in advance through two compulsory (and sometimes a third voluntary) payment, helping you avoid a large tax bill at year-end.

Keep in mind:

📌 Your tax estimate must be accurate and based on your expected taxable income.
📌 An IRP6 return must be submitted—even if no tax is payable.
📌 Late or inaccurate submissions can result in significant SARS penalties and interest.
