ACCOUNTABILITY ISN’T ABOUT BEING PERFECT. IT’S ABOUT WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU FALL SHORT. ❤️

As much as we strive to uphold the standards and values we have built at Empire Accounting & Taxation Advisory, sometimes life happens. And sometimes, even with the best intentions, we fall short.

Last week was one of those weeks.

Deadlines. Client commitments. The constant pressure of running a business and wondering when the next payments will come through.

And then there's life outside the office.

Because behind the businesswoman is also a mom.

Parent-teacher meetings. Kumon awards. Children who need my time and attention. And just to add to the chaos, a lost phone!

Somewhere between being a business owner, a mother and simply being human, things didn't go according to plan.

There are two things I absolutely cannot stand:

1. Being late.
2. Missing an appointment or deadline.

And on Friday, I managed to do both. Twice! 😩

For someone who places such enormous value on people's time, that really didn't sit well with me.

So I did what I believe any business owner who genuinely values their clients should do.

I took accountability.

I apologised sincerely, and I sent two bottles of w**e to two different clients as a small gesture of appreciation for their understanding and an acknowledgement that I had fallen short of my own standards.

Not because a bottle of w**e can replace someone's time. It absolutely cannot.

But because an apology should be more than words, and accountability should be more than a company value written on a wall.

At Empire, we speak about professionalism, integrity, respect and service excellence.

And while we strive to live those values every single day, I am reminded that they matter just as much, if not more, on the days when we don't get everything right.

Leadership isn't about never making mistakes. It's about having the humility to acknowledge them, the courage to make amends and the commitment to do better.

I'm still learning. Still juggling. Still growing.

And occasionally, still dropping a ball or two.

But one thing will never change.

Our clients' time matters. Our word matters. And our values matter.

Because at Empire, we're not just building a business. We're building relationships founded on trust. ❤️

And sometimes, the greatest demonstration of professionalism is simply being human enough to say, "I'm sorry. I could have done better."
