Every year the The Financial Planning Institute - SA (FPI) recognises and awards CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERS® who have demonstrated outstanding abilities and skill in their Financial Planning Practices.

I have been honoured by being selected as one of the Top 3 Finalists for 2023 in the FPI's prestigious Financial Planner of the Year Award.

The overall winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner in Sandton on the 14th November.

I sincerely appreciate all of the love and support I've received since the announcement - it's truly been an amazing experience.

Something can be said for intentionally trying something that is hard, and that you'll likely fail at. Our goal this year was to test and clarify not just how we do what we do, but why we do it. And what better litmus test than entering competitions where you're tested against the best of the best.

At Old Mutual's Practice of the Year Awards this week, we made it into the Top-10 Individual Practices in South Africa, and won the Mover & Shaker Award.

We also won Old Mutual Wealth's Integrated Wealth Planning Best Financial Plan Award.

Absolutely blown away by the support I've received, not only within Old Mutual Limited, but outside as well. It just goes to show that you can be successful by doing the right thing!

Fellow parents and guardians! A friendly reminder to us all: our jobs are not our lives; they're a means to an end. Work hard, make a difference, enjoy your profession, be successful.....but make time for your kids. There is no success in our achievements if we leave them behind.

Grateful for a profession that allows me to set aside a weekday afternoon (Shock and horror, all the missed potential meetings?!?🤭) to travel with my son to a rugby game. What a priviledge!

We can't buy our time with our kids back, lets make it count.

Good interpretation of the data here. Short-term success doesn't replace poor longer-term performance (or lead to better longer-term performance!). Prudent planning still required for those who wish to retire in the fund in the future.

Spot on from Maya! To me, for consumers (and their planners), this shouldn't be a Retirement Annuity vs Tax-Free Savings Account discussion, but rather a Retirement Annuity AND Tax-Free Savings Account one.

A longer-term, integrated plan, where the goal is to contribute specific amounts to your Retirement Annuity in order to receive a predetermined amount back from SARS, and THEN reinvest that into your Tax-Free Savings Account, makes sense to me.

The goal should be to maximise the benefits of both investments in conjuction with one another 😎

Funny enough, I'm often asked by businessmen if they can change their marital regime without having to 'divorce and remarry' in a more suitable regime.

A suitable choice doesn't just signify the values that you and your partner want to live out, however helps you practically manage the affects of running a business and death.
