Every business has things that should happen every time and mostly do. Mostly.

The enquiry gets a reply. The booking gets a reminder. The quiet lead gets a nudge at three weeks. When it's busy, "mostly" becomes "when someone remembers" — and the ones that slip are invisible. Nobody gets alerted about a follow-up that wasn't sent.

A workflow does it the same way every time, including at 6am on a Sunday.

If you've opened Power BI, clicked around and closed it again, that's the normal first experience. Nothing tells you where to start.

The free beginner course on the Academy starts where it should: getting data in, sorting out the mess it arrives in, and building a report that answers one question properly.

Free, self-paced, and there's no call waiting at the end of it.

If you've opened Power BI, clicked around, and closed it again — that's the normal first experience. It's a wide tool and nothing tells you where to begin.

The free beginner course starts where it should: getting data in, cleaning up the mess it arrives in, and building a report that answers one question properly. No modelling theory before you've seen why you need it.

It's free, it's self-paced, and there's no call at the end of it.

Social falls over for a boring reason. Not a shortage of ideas — the hour it takes to post the same thing in three apps, at the right size, on the right day.

So it happens in bursts. Four posts on a Sunday night, then nothing for two weeks.

Write it once, pick the channels, pick the date. It goes out while you're working. A month of content planned in one sitting.

Most AI rollouts start with a tool and work backwards to a use case. That's why so many of them quietly stop.

Explore is the second step of READY, and it runs the other way round. You list the work your team actually repeats — the writing, the summarising, the looking-things-up, the formatting — and you ask which of it is worth handing over. Some of it is. A lot of it isn't.

The output isn't a shortlist of vendors. It's a shortlist of problems, ranked. Tool selection gets much easier after that, because you finally know what you're selecting for.

How much of this month went on work that didn't need you specifically?

Chasing replies. Re-typing the same message. Remembering who to follow up.

The free assessment takes a few minutes and shows you what could be running in the background instead.

Customers don't only phone between 9 and 5. They phone when they've got a minute — evenings, weekends, the middle of a public holiday.

Ellie answers then too. Real conversation, the usual questions handled, details captured so you can follow up in the morning.

A month of conversations about AI, and almost none of them were really about AI.

They were about context — the tool doesn't know the business, so the output needs rewriting. About ownership — everyone agrees it's important and nobody's job. About measurement — no one can say whether the last thing worked.

The technology is the easy part now. The unglamorous work is deciding what to use it for, giving it enough context to be useful, and checking whether it earned its place.

If you want a straight read on where your own team sits, the scorecard is free and takes a few minutes: https://www.fcsza.com/ai-readiness

Ask most owners how last month went and you get a feeling, not a figure.

Put leads, bookings, conversions and revenue on one screen and the answer takes ten seconds — while the month is still running.

Referrals are the cheapest customers you'll ever get. Most businesses leave them to chance.

The best time to ask is right after a job well done — exactly when everyone's moved on. Automate the ask and it happens every time.
