GTC - originally established as Grant Thornton Capital in 1991, evolved out of Grant Thornton, the fifth largest audit and business cons
ultancy globally. GTC, having separated from the audit practice in 2015 due to global accounting regulations, is recognised as one of South Africa’s leading financial advisory businesses. GTC specialises in the areas of retirement fund solutions, healthcare consulting, private client wealth management, fiduciary services, short-term risk solutions and investment management, whilst providing access to other associated business areas within the financial servicing arena. Collectively the GTC group employs approximately 130 staff, located primarily in three major national centers. GTC operates a unit trust management company and is a licensed investment manager for both retirement funds and private clients. In accordance with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), GTC operates a FAIS Cat 2 license (No.731) and is a licensed Section 13B fund administrator. Assets under the management and administration of GTC, on behalf of clients, totals some R42 billion. GTC manages the affairs of over 100 000 retirement fund members - who participate in one or more of the retirement funds - involving some 350 employers, either through one of several GTC umbrella funds, or as members of a stand-alone fund. In addition, GTC consults to several thousand private clients in terms of their wealth management goals. GTC has consistently been recognised as industry leaders conducting best practice, consistently receiving several PMR awards over the years, culminating in the most recent 2020 PMR.africa Diamond Arrow Award.
