Scam re invoice from Standard Bank - South Africa

South African Revenue Service (SARS) warns the public against a new phishing scam purporting to be from Standard Bank, claiming that SARS has issued a tax invoice and urges taxpayers to click on a link to log into their account to access it.

Please note that SARS employees have embarked on an industrial action. Please note that this will impact the finalization of audits and verifications as well as the processing of refunds.

Importantly, please also note that the Tax Practitioner Contact Centre, various branches and customs offices will be closed today, 12 July. For a list of the affected branches and customs offices, please see the SARS website: https://bit.ly/3uFDZfg

IMPORTANT NEWS: SARS eFiling system issues

We have received a number of complaints today (4 July 2022) that eFiling is not working as it should. SARS has advised that it is as a result of the filing season traffic. SARS acknowledged that the system is under a significant amount of pressure and that they would keep us informed of developments.

Please note that SAICA has highlighted the fact that EMP201 returns are due on Thursday, 7 July, and tax practitioner members need sufficient time to submit such returns by the due date.
