Scaffolding or cherry picker?

The right answer depends on the job, not the day rate.

For some projects, a MEWP is the quickest and most practical solution. For others, scaffolding delivers better productivity, safer working conditions and fewer programme delays over the life of the project.

Our latest article explores the factors that matter most, from site conditions and project duration to safety, cost and Cape Town's challenging weather conditions.

Choosing a scaffolding supplier is about far more than comparing prices.

The right partner helps keep your project compliant, on programme and properly supported from start to finish. The wrong one can create delays, unnecessary risk and costly headaches long before construction is complete.

In our latest article, we unpack seven warning signs every contractor, project manager and SHEQ professional should look for before awarding a scaffolding contract.

Temporary event structures leave very little room for error.

Build programmes are tight, layouts are complex, and safety has to be built into every stage of the project. The scaffolding system behind the structure plays a bigger role than many people realise.

Our latest article looks at why modular systems like Layher have become the preferred choice for modern event structures, and how they help improve speed, structural performance and adaptability without compromising compliance.

Construction programmes rarely fall behind because of one major issue. More often, it's a series of smaller delays that gather momentum until the entire project feels the impact.

A scaffolding contractor should do far more than supply access. They should help keep your programme moving through careful planning, responsive service, compliant systems and clear communication.

If you're appointing a scaffolding contractor, our latest article explains the signs that separate a reliable project partner from one that could become a source of delays.

Good scaffolding starts long before the first component arrives on site.

Method statements, risk assessments, engineered designs, inspection registers and handover certificates aren't just paperwork. They're evidence that the project has been properly planned, risks have been assessed and compliance has been built into the process from day one.

If you're appointing a scaffolding contractor, knowing what documentation to expect can help you avoid unnecessary delays, compliance issues and costly surprises later.

Read our latest article to see what every professional contractor should have ready before work starts.

Two scaffolding quotations. Similar scope. Very different outcomes.

The lowest price doesn't always deliver the lowest project cost. What's included in the quotation can have a significant impact on your programme, budget and site operations once work begins.

From engineer-designed scaffolds and inspections to transport, standby support and weather planning, there are several details that deserve a closer look before you award the contract.

We've broken down the questions every project manager, quantity surveyor and procurement team should be asking before making a decision.

Cape Town's wind is more than an inconvenience. It's a design consideration.

Whether you're planning a temporary stage, viewing platform, public access staircase or specialist scaffold, wind loading needs to be addressed long before installation begins. Proper engineering, careful planning and ongoing inspections all play a role in keeping projects safe, compliant and on schedule.

In our latest article, we explore how coastal conditions influence temporary structure design, when wind engineering is required, and why the right scaffold system can make a significant difference on complex projects.

The biggest matches rarely attract average-sized crowds.

Whether it’s a school derby, a cup final, a provincial tournament or a one-off showcase fixture, venues often need extra capacity without the cost and commitment of permanent infrastructure.

That’s where modular grandstands make sense.

In our latest article, we explore how temporary spectator seating allows venues and organisers to scale capacity for major events, while maintaining safety, compliance and flexibility. We also look at why systems like Layher have become the global standard for temporary sporting infrastructure.

Temporary grandstands aren’t just seating structures. They’re safety-critical installations that need to handle crowd loads, weather conditions, and tight event schedules without compromise.

That’s why the world’s biggest events rely on Layher. From the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to major sporting and entertainment venues worldwide, Layher’s Allround system has become the benchmark for temporary spectator seating.

In our latest article, we unpack what makes Layher different, how it simplifies compliance, and why it’s ideally suited to Western Cape event conditions.

ALPINE - Working at height, out of sight.

Our team has just completed this Layher Allround installation inside the V&A Waterfront shopping centre, giving safe access to the roof structure high above the mall floor.

The real challenge wasn't the scaffold. It was building it without anyone noticing.

With thousands of shoppers moving through the centre every day, disruption wasn't an option. So our crews worked after hours, erecting through the night so that by the time the doors opened each morning, the mall traded as normal — clean floors, clear walkways, no interruptions.

That's the advantage of the Layher system: rapid assembly, suspended configurations over live public spaces, and engineered safety at every connection.

Proud of the team who made this look easy. It wasn't.
