📢 SARS Tax Season 2026 is almost here!
SARS has officially announced the following filing dates:
📌 Auto-Assessments: 1 July – 12 July 2026
📌 Non-Provisional Taxpayers: 13 July – 23 October 2026
📌 Provisional Taxpayers: 13 July 2026 – 22 January 2027
❓Do you know which taxpayer category you fall into?
âś… Non-Provisional Taxpayer
You typically earn a salary or wage from an employer and PAYE is deducted from your income throughout the year.
âś… Provisional Taxpayer
You earn additional income from sources such as a business, freelance work, investments, or rental property.
🔍 What is an Auto-Assessment?
If you qualify, SARS will notify you via SMS or email between 1 and 12 July. Your assessment is prepared using information provided by employers, medical schemes, retirement funds, banks, and insurers.
⚠️ Even if you receive an Auto-Assessment, always review it carefully to ensure all information is correct and make any necessary changes.
🚨 Beware of scams!
Tax season is a prime time for phishing attempts. Be cautious of emails, SMSs, or WhatsApp messages asking you to click links, update personal details, or make payments.
Always access your tax information through the official SARS platforms such as eFiling or SARS MobiApp.
