Addictive products and services cause harm to a certain percentage of the population of South African society. 4. It is not right to profit from people who cannot control themselves. 5. Individuals and corporates who profit from addiction are accountable for reducing the harm that their products cause to society. Compliancy Solutions & Processes... 1. Where Government (in the form of taxes) and companies who profit from addictive products and services accept that profiting from people who are addicted (cannot control themselves) is unacceptable without attempting to reduce the harm that these products and services cause. 2. Where those who profit from addictive products and services commit to measuring the harm addiction causes to South Africa through national research projects every five years. 3. Where those who profit from addictive products and services commit to increasing Addiction Harm Reduction spending on prevention and treatment to acceptable levels within a reasonable period of time. 4. Where those who profit from addictive products and services commit to safe and responsible advertising practices and open communication with national addiction lobby groups such as The Addiction Action Campaign.
