Beneficial ownership gets mentioned a lot, but not many people actually know what it means.

It's simple, really. CIPC wants to know who the real, human owners of your company are, not just the names on paper. If your company is owned through a trust or another business, that still needs to be traced back to an actual person.

Here's the part that catches people out: since 2024, CIPC won't even let you process your annual return unless this is up to date. No beneficial ownership filing means your return gets stuck.
