Wow, what a time to be alive. It's finally on the airwaves that IWCP is a National Distribution Partner. What an incredible journey it has been. When you start a business and become an entrepreneur, no-one tells you about the early mornings, the late nights, the gruelling conversations with staff, the disappointments whilst you need to stay brave while looking at an unhappy bank balance. Entrepreneurship has been an interesting journey that has stretched me, developed me and challenged my beliefs. It has given me a new found respect for anyone with a business and who is making a difference to their clients. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a world changer and to impact lives through business. I thank God for being part of this monumentous occasion that is an opportunity of a lifetime. To our advisers, thank you. To our staff members, thank you. To our leadership team, thank you. To my family, thank you. To our clients, thank you. To my business partner Oosthuisen, thank you for being an incredible visionary. Thank you for supporting us in our journey and for helping us to make history 😁. To many more achievements đŸ„‚

As a Certified Financial Planner¼ I'm excited about few changes in the budget speech this year. I often remind clients that tax is not just an annual administrative event — it is one of the most significant determinants of long-term wealth creation and preservation. Understanding the key taxes that affect individuals is fundamental to sound financial planning.

1. No Broad-Based Tax Increases for Individuals

Government withdrew a previously planned R20 billion worth of tax increases, largely due to stronger-than-expected revenue collections by SARS. This means no increase in personal income tax rates or VAT for the coming fiscal year — a relief for most taxpayers.

2. Inflationary Adjustment to Personal Tax Tables

For the first time in two years, personal income tax brackets, rebates and thresholds will be adjusted fully for inflation. This adjustment combats bracket creep, where inflation pushes taxpayers into higher tax brackets even if real income hasn’t increased — effectively preserving disposable income.

3. Increased Medical Tax Credits
Medical scheme tax credits, which directly reduce your tax liability, were also increased in line with inflation after being stagnant for several years. This offers modest but meaningful relief, especially for families and retirees.

4. Incentives to Save and Invest
To encourage greater household savings and retirement planning:

The annual tax-free savings (TFSA) contribution limit increases from R36 000 to R46 000. The retirement fund deduction limit rises from R350 000 to R430 000 — allowing more tax-deductible contributions each year. These measures extend your ability to build long-term, tax-efficient wealth.

5. Capital Gains and Small Business Relief (Indirect Benefits for Individuals)

While not solely personal tax rates, capital gains tax exemptions for small business disposals and donations were increased — which can benefit individual owners and their estate planning. The exclusion on capital gains or losses on the disposal of a primary residence has been increased from R2 million to R3 million. The annual exclusion on capital gains or losses for income tax purposes has also been increased to R50 000 while th

During National Wills Week, have you thought about whether your will is up to date? A valid will is more than a document, it’s a safeguard for your loved ones and a way to ensure your legacy is honoured.

I listened to a recent interview on the radio and the Master of the High Court commented that less than 15% of all the estates that get finalised have a will. This is a massive wake up call to make sure your affairs are in order. Let me assist you, so that your loved ones enjoy your legacy.

Take this opportunity to protect your family’s future and bring peace of mind today. Comment "Me Too" if you would like to join the revolution of getting your will done.

What an incredible opportunity to have been able to inspire and motivate my esteemed fellow professionals at the recently completed Global Financial Planning Conference .

This was extremely special to me because 3 years back when I first heard about , I didn't make the cut but I took it as an opportunity to hone my speaking skills, master my craft and perfect my gift. I reapplied a year later and I made it as a speaker and the rest is history.

After completing my talk, to have received the heart warming feedback I got was really humbling. Never give up on your dreams and remember, No just means Not Yet. Keep dreaming big, working hard and stop at nothing to make a difference in other people's lives.

Thank you Rizanne Oosthuisen-Botha, Francois du Toit CFPÂź and Ben Charlton, CFPÂź for the sleepless nights and tears you shed to make this happen. To my fellow speakers, Gugu Sidaki, CFPÂź Jean Archary CFPÂź Mariska van Wyk de Vries Nelisiwe Mbara, CFPÂź Russell Ho CFPÂź Henri le Grange David Kop CFPÂź Wilco Jonker Sharon Moller Ollie Salmon Guy Holwill Sandy Pabial FPFS, I know the time and effort it takes to present a message that can hit the heart chords of an audience so well done. Thank you for making this the ultimate showdown.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana presented a less controversial SA Budget ‘version 3.0’ on Wednesday, which includes some ‘budget cuts’ but also lower revenue forecasts as GDP growth has been revised down.

Key Highlights
1. Godongwana announced that the general fuel levy on petrol will increase by 16c to R4.01 per litre and on diesel by 15c to R3.85 per litre on 4 June 2025.
2. SA’s primary surplus and that the forecast budget deficit as a percentage of GDP remained “intact” at 4.6% for 2025/26.
3. Budget 3.0 projects consolidated spending growth averaging 5.4% annually, from R2.4 trillion in 2024/25 to R2.81 trillion in 2027/28. The (unapproved) budget in March proposed spending growth of 5.6%, thus the lower increase will see spending ‘reduced’ by around R200 billion over the medium-term three-year period (MTEF).
4. Government’s debt-service costs currently consume 22 cents of every rand of revenue.
5. As per the March budget, there are no changes in adjustments for personal income tax brackets. The amount an individual can earn before being required to pay tax for the tax year from 1 March 2025 to 28 February 2026 remains at R95 750 (for those below 65 years). There are also no inflation adjustments to medical tax credits.
6. The pension and other social grant increases in the March budget have been retained.
7. Above inflation increases in sin tax increases and no sugar tax increase announced in the March budget have been retained
