Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has described SA's
financial regulatory framework as "world-class" having been
ranked third out of 144 countries for financial market
development by the latest World Economic Forum's global
competitiveness index. Gordhan said in terms of individual
indicators‚ SA was ranked first on regulation of securities
exchanges and its legal rights framework‚ second for the
availability of financial services and soundness of banks and
third for the strength of local equity financing.
NOW IS THAT NOT GREAT NEWS.
