On Monday, I had the pleasure of being invited to the IndexMore Webinar from Satrix Investments, and it was quite an insightful investment webinar. They were talking about how they want index funds to push the market towards segmented slices of the markets, and to be the name in these index funds.

What stood out is that Satrix segments across many different industries with their index funds. S&P 500 is an indexed segment of the international market, as is the MSCI, then you get Satrix INDI - Industrial, Satrix Top40, etc. Everyone has these segments, but Satrix was talking about being the first, being the innovative and bringing them all to public participation.

Essentially, what this provides for is a new easier way to diversify across a portfolio, in terms of Index fund compilations. As an advisor, I would not be using this as a way to invest for the short term, or for anything other than a cowboy. But a forward marching income fund (I have my good ol's) combined with a equity heavy future focused growth fund like Satrix MSCI and the Satrix FINI among others, we might be able to serve clients that have less every month to avoid huge EAC's thanks to the cost of index funds

πŸš€ The World's First Trillionaire Has Arrived

Forbes now estimates that Elon Musk has become the first person in history to surpass a $1 trillion net worth, driven largely by the historic IPO of SpaceX.

The Numbers Behind the Milestone

πŸ“ˆ SpaceX priced its IPO at $135 per share, implying a valuation of approximately $1.77 trillion. Shares later opened around $150 and traded significantly higher on debut.

πŸ’° The IPO raised a record $75 billion, making it the largest IPO in history.

πŸš€ SpaceX was valued at roughly $100 billion in 2021, $400 billion in 2025, $800 billion by late 2025, and now nearly $2 trillion in public markets.

What Does This Mean For Tesla?

⚑ Tesla remains a critical part of Musk's fortune, contributing hundreds of billions to his net worth. Forbes notes that a major Tesla decline could still materially impact Musk's wealth.

⚑ The success of SpaceX may reduce investor concerns about Musk's dependence on Tesla alone, creating a more diversified Musk empire spanning EVs, AI, satellites, robotics, and space infrastructure.

The bigger story isn't the trillion dollars.

It's that investors are now valuing the future of AI, space, and infrastructure at unprecedented levels.

Building on our last 2 posts about saving money on our car/home insurance and funneling that into your child's Retirement Annuity to make them millionaires at 55 years old - see that post for more.

Let's continue on our road of Estate Planning. How does this work?
No matter who you are in S.A. you will owe executor fees at death, you will owe all debt, your assets will have to be transferred and even more so will have to be 'wound up' as a whole for your family to inherit anything. And yes, this is even your house.
For a house value of R1,6m (for e.g.) you can expect to pay around R26k to move the house out the deceased estate EVEN IF YOU ARE MARRIED IN COMMUNITY OF PROPERTY.

Your family won't get the house if they can't afford the fees to wind up the estate, AND the house will be auctioned off. This is why you see those auction posters everywhere in Fourways!

Not sure what your estate will look like? I built a free estate calculator based on the most basic principles of estate costing and fees associated. Find out what your estate will look like (I also have a built in Capital Legacy product description because I draft wills and do estate planning through their TRUST).

Moving forward from Yesterday's post. If R30% off your short term insurance premium frees up R400.00 or so. We can easily combine that into a R500.00 per month Retirement Annuity in your children's name, given the level of investment aggression, we could aim to get your child's retirement annuity to R20m by 55.

Thanks to the new 2 pot (actually3, but that's for another day), at 18 your children could do a withdrawal to cover their 1st GWM/BYD/CHERY car or start their business, or pay for independent university (Eduvos)

Let's start this week talking about your short term insurance:
- what is it? ANSWER: It is your safety net for something happening to your car/ home/ business/ any liability that you can cover.
- do you need it? ANSWER: If you aren't a Rothschild, able to cover any loss or damage or court battle without stressing a single cent, then insurance is for you.
- can I change it? ANSWER: 99% of short term insurance can be changed without penalty, you might forego a cash back, but pretty much all the big short term insurance companies including Hollard and Santam offer a cashback like that other company.
- What happens at claim stage? ANSWER: with my clients, you just call me. No call center, no calling around chasing operator after operator. But if you just have the insurance company, your claim will be a number, just another number.
- Why is DIY a bad idea? In my experience having my own DIY insurance led to long waits, claim denials and even though I am in the industry, having to get more opinions on the policy wording and actual liability covered.

How do I use ST (Short term insurance)? If there is room to save you more than 30% on your insurance, we can funnel that 30% into other places like estate planning, retirement planning or life cover.

Have a look for yourself. My team can either get better insurance or better coverage, and all we need is your current policy.

From a customer slipping on a wet floor, to a contractor damaging property, an employee making a costly mistake, or a visitor getting injured β€” one claim can wipe out years of hard work.
Yet in South Africa, most business owners are underinsured or have the wrong liability cover. Many SMMEs either have no proper Public Liability protection at all, or their limits are far too low to cover real claims (which can easily run into hundreds of thousands or even millions).
Don’t let a single β€œoops” moment become a business-ending nightmare.

Get the right liability cover in place today.

What's your future Salary??
The truth is that 94% of South Africans cannot Retire.
The longer you wait to start a Retirement Annuity, the more expensive it becomes!
Use my free retirement calculator tool: https://nicthefa.co.za/can-you-retire/
What amount will you need at 65 to pay yourself a salary that will keep you going for the rest of your life? To survive inflation, a shrinking economy, increasing youth unemployment, increasing medical aid costs, estate fees after life? What wealth bonuses can we take advantage of, what tax advantages can we use? Should we buy property? - How can we do that without going into debt?

R500.00 deposited once on your 25th bday vs R500.00 deposited on your 30th Bday, where both get just 10% growth annualised until you are 65 THEN the difference is over 61% more at age 65 if you deposited once at age 25.

An R.A. is also a tax reducing tool - you get a tax rebate from your own R.A. and it's better to use that as a method to create an investment eco-system that keeps looping back to give you tax breaks and grow your wealth tax free until retirement.

Let's set up your tax efficient future on your own terms.

Sometimes we get the privilege of going to amazing South African institutions to try save south Africans from inheritance tax and estate fees that rob their families of their hard earned money and assets, and we end up at places like school which has such an amazing waaib!

Having been there before, their sports program for the little ones all the way to the grade 7 market days, they seem to have their students well rounded by the time they graduate to high school.

Of course, we were there to try and help the parents of the next generation understand that there are alternatives to bank WILLS and that the fees at death for anyone are not automatically paid for, in fact they may come back in 5 years for a life cover paid for your children's education if the estate is not wound up!

Another avenue I use for my clients, is to create an R.A. for their children (retirement annuity). If you start at age 7, and pay until the children reach 18, they then will be able to grow that money until 55 years tax-free. If they want a deposit on a car or house, they can just use the 2 pot system yo withdraw. And if you use Sanlam, I can set up a wealth bonus that will double the fund by the time they are 65years. Smart money makes smart moves.
