Each year, winter arrives and affects communities differently.
While many of us can simply reach for an extra blanket, countless families across South Africa face the colder months without this basic comfort.

At Crowe Southern Africa, we believe successful businesses have a responsibility to contribute beyond the workplace. That is why our team is proud to support our annual blanket drive, helping to bring warmth, dignity, and care to those who need it most.
This year, we reached out to Alberton Methodist Church and supported their community by donating blankets, beanies, pairs of gloves, and scarves.

Every donation represents more than protection from the cold. It represents kindness, compassion, and the power of communities coming together to support one another.

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed.
Together, small acts of generosity can make a meaningful difference.

Employees rarely leave for one reason alone, and while salary is often the first assumption, most workplace research shows that the real drivers are usually deeper and more closely linked to growth, leadership, overall experience within the organisation, and increasingly, mental wellbeing.

When people feel their development has slowed, that their work environment is becoming unsustainable, or that their mental wellbeing is not supported, engagement tends to drop gradually over time, often before any formal resignation conversation takes place.

Leadership also plays a major role in retention, because employees are far more likely to stay in environments where they feel supported, guided, and genuinely invested in rather than simply managed for output, especially when there is also an awareness of their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Across modern workplaces, employees are also increasingly looking for more than stability, and are instead prioritising environments that offer:
• Clear growth and development pathways
• Consistent learning opportunities
• Supportive and capable leadership
• A sense of purpose in their work
• A workplace culture that supports mental wellbeing and psychological safety

This is where human development becomes a strategic necessity, shifting retention from a reactive challenge into a structured approach focused on building capability, improving experience, and strengthening long-term engagement.

Many businesses focus on tax deadlines, but fewer pay attention to the interest rates that can significantly impact the cost of non-compliance.

From 1 June 2026, the official interest rate used by SARS for certain employee loans, shareholder loans, and trust-related transactions increased from 7.75% to 8%.

This change affects areas such as:
• Fringe Benefits Tax
• Dividends Tax
• Loans to shareholders
• Loans to trusts

At the same time, interest charged on outstanding tax liabilities remains substantial at 10.25% per annum, with penalties often applied in addition to interest.

The reality is that what may seem like a minor oversight can quickly become an expensive problem.

Understanding how these changes affect your organisation can help reduce risk, avoid unnecessary costs, and strengthen compliance practices.

Read our full article for a detailed breakdown of the latest SARS interest rates and what they mean for your business.

Every brand has a story behind its symbol, and sometimes it is worth taking a moment to reflect on what it truly represents.

The Crowe Pinnacle emblem is more than just a logo. It reflects the values that guide who we are and how we work every day.

✔ Quality & Excellence
The pinnacle represents striving for the highest level of excellence through continuous growth and improvement.

✔ Speed & Responsiveness
Its dynamic shape resembles an arrow or comet, symbolising our commitment to responsive, client-focused service.

✔ Strength & Stability
The mountain-inspired foundation reflects the strength, trust, and stability we aim to build with every relationship.

A strong reminder that behind every brand is a purpose, a vision, and a team working together toward something greater.

Wishing everyone an inspiring Friday and a wonderful weekend ahead.
