New season, good time to take stock

There’s something about the first day of spring that makes you want to open the windows and clear out what’s piled up over winter. Your finances respond well to the same treatment. It needn’t be a big overhaul — just an honest look at what’s coming in, what’s going out, and the one or two things you’ve been meaning to sort but haven’t. A small tidy now tends to save a much bigger one later.

A quick reminder for companies with a February year-end: your first provisional tax payment (IRP6) for the 2027 tax year is due by 31 August 2026. The date usually isn’t the hard part — the estimate is. Guess too low and interest quietly starts building; overthink it and you tie up cash you might need right now.
