Tax timelines can feel confusing, but they don’t have to be

This simple guide shows how your provisional tax payments fit into the bigger picture of your annual tax return. In short: during the year you make advance payments based on your income, and then when tax season opens, everything is finalised—sometimes with a small top-up or refund. The current years first provitional payment can overlap with the finalisation of your prior tax year.
